Our story

Made slowly, worn for years

Vastikar began with a simple idea: a wardrobe should be built from fewer, better pieces. We work with small mills and workshops to make clothing from wool, silk, cotton and leather.

Every piece is designed to outlast trends — easy to wear, easy to care for, and better with age.

How a piece is made

01

Cloth first

We start with a mill, not a sketch. Wool from Biella, linen from Normandy, cotton from Gujarat, silk from Bengal — each chosen for how it wears, not how it photographs.

02

Cut by hand

Patterns are cut full size on paper and walked around the cloth by hand, so the weave runs the same way in both fronts of a jacket.

03

Made in small runs

A season is a few hundred pieces per workshop. Small runs mean a cutter can finish a coat properly instead of chasing a quota.

04

Kept in service

Repairs for five years, spare cloth held back, and a take-back credit so nothing goes in a bin because a button came off.

Where it comes from

The mills behind the cloth

We buy directly, which means we can name the town every fibre came from. Where a material is certified, the certificate number is on the product page.

Eight years, four turning points

  1. 2018

  2. 2020

First direct mill partnership in Biella — no middleman between the fleece and the cloth.

  3. 2023

The repair programme opened; 1,400 garments mended since.

  4. 2026

Twelve workshops, nine categories, still two seasons a year.
